VELASQUEZ, SANTOS LEAD CLASS 2001
Mandy C. Velasquez and Bernadita Santos are this school years valedictorian and salutatotian, respectively. They ranked on top of Class 2001 in the academic (70%) and co-curricular accomplishments (30%).
Velasquez won in numerous contests in various fields. He bagged second places in the National Essay Contest on Energy Industry reforms, and in the English Olympics Battle of the Brains (Division Level). He also copped third place in Editorial Writing at the National Secondary Schools Press Conference. He is the editor-in-chief of Ang Malaya and the president of the Tax Troopers Club.
Santos is a senior member of the MHPHS Rondalla which was hailed as the most Outstanding Performer at the 2000 NAMCYA Music Festival. She is also AMA-CLC Brain Quest champion. She is the news editor of The Republic and president of Sanggunian Kabataan.

MATH MENTOR GETS PROMOTION
Ms Trinidad Tecson, Math mentor, will be the new Division Supervisor in Mathematics for Bulacan.
Ms. Tecson, a mathematics teacher of Marcelo H. del Pilar High School for about 33 years, has a lot of achievements under her belt.
In 1985, she was cited the Most Outstanding Mathematics Teacher in Region 3.
She went through several tests that qualified her for the Philippine Australian Science and Mathematics Education Project (PASMEP). She received a 10-month study grant of the Western Australian Tertiary Institute Consortion in 1989. She was awarded a post-graduate certificate in Advance Teaching Secondary Mathematics.
After finishing her scholarship grant at Australia, she became a Regional Mathematics Trainor and National Curriculum writer for Secondary Mathematics.
She replaced Mrs. Julita de Guzman who trained her for the said position. She is currently the acting supervisor and is expecting he official appointment within the month of March.
MHPHS DANCE TROUPE BAGS FIRST PLACE
The MHPHS dance troupe bagged the first place in the 2000 Division Folk Dance Competition held at the Pulilan Central Elementary School on December 20, 2000.
This years team for the annually held contest was Kulturang Sayaw Palaganapin sa Bagong Milenyo with a required piece of Sakuting.
The dancers, who consist of 8 pairs from all year levels, were trained by Mrs. Corazon Talavera, PEHM teacher.
The group is composed of Anjelyn Enriquez, Mary Lyka Gaspar, IV-3, Elsie Cuevo, IV-5, Aries Paulino, IV-9, Alvin Paulino, Gerald Plata, IV-10, Clarissa Buluran, IV-19, Analiza Granadam, IV-20, Charnelyn Noprada, Israel Jayson Vinta, Crisanto Bongga, Merlin Eusebio, Arvin Sta. Ana, III-3 and Angelita Belisario.
They received a trophy and P5,000.00 cash prize. Iba High School and Sapang Palay National High School captured second and third place, respectively.
14 DEL PILARIANS PASS UPCAT Fourteen senior students qualified for admission as freshmen to the University of the Philippines for the first semester of the school year 2001-2001.
Included in the list of qualifiers are some students belonging to section one. They are Marianne Denise Baesa (BA Broadcast Communications), Genriech Reoyan(BS Chemistry), Paolo Chrissan Romero (Civil Engineering), Mandy Velasquez (BS Math), Bernadita Santos(non-quota), Rowel Gatus( Geology), Rikka del Rosario(English), Gerleen Jane Clavio( Landscape Architecture), Analyn Visitacion (Hotel and restaurant Administration), Paul Michael Posesano (Public Health), Reggie Val Cruz( Business Management) and April Cruz (Business Management).
